I Am Some Body

2022 - 2024

I Am Some Body is a photographic meditation on embodied presence, vulnerability, and the ethics of seeing. Through intimate, fragmentary images of the body in private domestic space, the series asserts a fundamental claim: I am somebody, in some body, here.

The work emerges from sustained reflection on how the humanity of the other is diminished or forgotten within visual culture and social exchange. The series responds to visual cultures that reduce bodies, particularly female and marginalized bodies, to surface and object. Against this, the photographs propose the body as the site of consciousness, selfhood, and irreducible humanity.

I Am Some Body invites viewers to practice ethical seeing: recognizing the humanity, interiority, and sovereignty of the other, even when exposed and vulnerable. The work continues the artist's investigation into presence and interiority examining the body itself as the fundamental location where selfhood, vulnerability, and dignity converge.
